With the release of a new album, the public usually can’t even guess how well an album will sell, with some bands and artists being no exception as to how well they did.

These albums are known to have sold well over the whole world with their releases but did especially well in Canada,

Thriller – Michael Jackson

Thriller is seen as one of the best-selling albums worldwide, but the album went 2x Diamond in Canada, selling over 2.4 million copies in its first two years of release. Thriller was released in November 1982 by Epic Records and was produced by Quincy Jones.

It was Michael Jacksons’ first album on the Billboard Top List and has stood the test of time as being one of Canada’s favourite albums.

Jagged Little Pill – Alanis Morrisette

Jagged little pill received 2X Diamond Certification in 1996. That’s just one year after its release. The album sold 2 million copies and has proven just how dedicated Canadians were to see their loved native artist reach international success.

The album was recorded after she moved from Ottawa to Toronto and made more progress with the songs when she travelled to Los Angeles. The album’s creation and its impact is the subject of Jagged of HBO’s documentary.

Their Greatest Hits – The Eagles

The Greatest Hits album by the Eagles sold well all over the world with its release in 1976 and garnered rave reviews from critics. The album sold over 2 million copies and reached 2x Diamond Certification 11 years after its release. This is not only seen as the bands’ best-selling album but also one of the best-selling Greatest Hits albums of all time by any artist.
